On the eve of March 11, VU Šiauliai Academy organised a lively hiking tour around Šiauliai city "11km. For FREEDOM".
Around 40 Lithuanian and foreign students, lecturers, professors and administrative staff took the opportunity to spend time together and celebrate the Day of the Restoration of Lithuanian Independence. The march included a visit to the Salduvė Mound, a look at Lake Talksha and its shoreline, a walk along the city boulevard and the city's central park.
During a break, the hikers tasted teas from the Botanical Garden of the VU Šiauliai Academy, tasted kibbins, and had a cosy chat. "This is a great way to mobilise the community on issues of values and citizenship, and to integrate foreign students more. It is also an opportunity to develop healthy lifestyle skills, to diversify the routine," said Professor Renata Bilbokaitė, Director of the VU Šiauliai Academy, after the march.
